Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act
The Texas DTPA was enacted to protect consumers against false, misleading, and deceptive business practices, unconscionable actions, and breaches of warranty, and to provide efficient and economical procedures to secure that protection.
Fraud claims may involve the intentional act of making a statement of fact that is not true so as to induce another party to enter into a contract or undertake some other act. Claims for fraud may occur during the negotiation phase for the sale of goods (autos, boats, diamonds, real estate) or in the providing of services (home repair fraud, broker fraud, contractor fraud, mechanic fraud), or consumer loan fraud. It also may occur in the sale of a business or in the offering or sale of an investment opportunity.
Texas Civil Fraud Attorneys
Our Texas consumer protection law firm also has considerable experience in litigating civil fraud cases. Civil fraud occurs when one party intentionally deceives another, causing the deceived party some form of injury or loss. Examples of civil fraud include the issuance of a bad check, or refusing to return property or money known to belong to another.
If you have a DTPA or fraud case, our Austin, Texas, deceptive trade lawyers will analyze the position and conduct of the parties, research industry standards and the history and background of the parties, and pursue administrative remedies, when appropriate.
